I can't dial an outside line, how can I do it? | When running for the first time the dialler software on Windows XP, users must select the correct modem from the "Configuration" menu --> "Connect Settings" before attempting to connect. This is because, when installed, the dialler selects the wrong WAN Mini Port modem by default. |
 | Dial manually the number in the 'number to dial' field of the GRIC dialler. If you get a fax noise then the number is working. If not, then the number might require ammending by adding a 9 or a 0 in front of it. |
 | Check that you have got a correct modem lead. A standard phone cable may not allow you to dial an outside line for data. |
 |
Check also that you have the correct phone adaptor. For digital phone systems, please make sure that you turn off the 'Wait for dial tone' option in the GRIC dialler.
To do that, please go to the 'Configuration' menu then click on 'Connect settings', select the correct modem and click the 'Properties' box below it. In the 'General' tab, more specifically in the 'Dial control box' please tick off the option 'Wait for dial tone before dialing'.
